May Lim

Policy Strategist

May Lim is a policy professional with over ten years of multifaceted experience working in policy and advocacy at the state, local, and federal levels, particularly on criminal justice reform issues. Prior to starting her own policy consultancy, May worked as Policy Director at a federal lobbying firm, leading efforts to reauthorize the Second Chance Act and ensure continued funding for state and local reentry programs. 

May previously worked as the National Policy Manager at For The People, where she led efforts to advance state legislation allowing prosecutors to resentence people serving unjust sentences, and co-authored multiple reports and publications on the topic. She also served as legislative staff for Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis and King County Councilmember Larry Gossett in Seattle, and she worked as a community organizer in Seattle’s Asian Pacific Islander American community. 

May holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Washington.
