Sydnie Mitchell
STAFF ATTORNEY
Sydnie Mitchell is a Staff Attorney at For The People, where she facilitates ongoing case review and researches and analyzes novel legal issues in order to further Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing. Sydnie is most passionate about working with system-impacted people and family reunification—areas she has honed in her three years of post-litigation experience.
Prior to For The People, Sydnie was a Staff Attorney Fellow at the California Innocence Project where she supervised the Project’s initial review of innocence cases arising out of Southern California. Sydnie also worked as a state-appointed attorney for people currently in CDCR custody in advance of their Board of Parole Hearings.
Before that, Sydnie served as a Judicial Intern at San Mateo County Superior Court and as a Clinic Student with the Northern California Innocence Project. During her time in law school, Sydnie earned the Justice John Paul Stevens Public Interest Fellowship Grant.
Sydnie holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and is a member of the California Bar. She also received a B.A. in Philosophy from California State University, Sacramento. In her free time, Sydnie enjoys film photography and Zumba. She lives with her cat Violet in the Bay Area.
