Nathaniel Austria
LEGAL EXTERN
Nathaniel Austria is a Legal Extern at For The People, where he supports prosecutor-initiated sentencing and resentencing review through legal research and case evaluation with For The People’s Legal Team. Nathaniel came to For the People through his academic and professional focus on racial justice and post-conviction advocacy. Nathaniel is a J.D. Candidate in the Class of 2026 at the University of San Francisco School of Law and currently serves as an Academic Support Tutor supporting both Criminal Law and Contracts and is a member of Law Review.
Prior to For The People, Nathaniel worked with the Transport Security Administration’s Office of Chief Legal Counsel in the Employment & Administrative Litigation Division assisting attorneys with federal employment disputes. He also served as a student-clinician with the University of San Francisco’s Racial Justice Clinic where he worked on Racial Justice Act claims and externed for the Honorable Kandis A. Westmore of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Before law school, Nathaniel worked as a Legislative Aide for the Hawaii House of Representatives, supporting legislative research and policy development. He also worked as a Business Immigration Analyst assisting with employment-based immigration matters.
