Jem Castro

Reentry and Reunification Coordinator

Jem Castro is the Reentry & Reunification Coordinator, supporting people returning home through Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing and working to build out advocacy and support networks.

Jem has dedicated her career to serving justice-system-impacted juveniles, transitional-aged youth, and adults for the past nine years before joining FTP. For nearly a decade, Jem has worked with marginalized communities that have experienced foster care, the justice system, out-of-home placements, and a lack of access to financial resources. Her background in mental health and case management informs her practice—which is grounded in cultural humility, empathy, and compassion.

Jem is originally from south Los Angeles but has found her second home in the Bay Area. When she’s not working at the forefront of advocacy, she enjoys listening to music and spending time with family and friends.
