Christina Svenson

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Christina Svenson is the Communications Director at For The People, where she leads public relations efforts to expand the national recognition and adoption of Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing.

Prior to For The People, Christina was a Senior Account Executive at the boutique communications agency SutherlandGold. There, she developed brand messaging, positioning, and media strategy for organizations across a range of industries—from healthcare to consumer brands. At SutherlandGold, Christina helped sustain legacy brands and launch new companies, including the country’s first carless neighborhood, Culdesac.

Previously, Christina worked at the nonprofit Girls, Inc., developing curricula and leading programming for school-aged girls with a focus on gender, race, literacy, and restorative justice. There, she saw the impact of long sentences on Oakland families, which planted the seed for her work in the criminal justice space.

Christina was born and raised in Panama City, Panama. She is also an accomplished writer and poet, with two published books of poetry as well as writing in Slate, Insider, Vice, among others.
