Anne Dean

STAFF ATTORNEY

Anne Dean is a Staff Attorney at For The People, where she facilitates ongoing case review and researches and analyzes novel legal issues in order to further Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing. Anne brings over a decade of experience as a public defender, with a focus on client-centered representation and holistic defense.

Prior to joining For The People, Anne was an attorney at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, where she represented people accused of serious felonies, and developed the training curriculum for criminal defense attorneys new to felony practice. Before that, Anne was an attorney at The Bronx Defenders for eight years. There, in addition to representing people charged with crimes, she supervised felony-level attorneys, and was a member of the Forensic Practice Group, specializing in ballistics.

Anne earned her J.D. from NYU School of Law, and is a member of the New York and California Bars. She received her B.A. from Yale University. In her free time, Anne enjoys hiking, reading, and going out to eat with friends and family.
